MSU-Iligan joins QS list of top universities in Asia

ROCAYA SUMNDAD OTICAL October 28, 2018 ILIGAN CITY: The Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) joined the roster of top Asian universities by United Kingdom-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). MSU-IIT placed in the 451-500 bracket along with Dumaguete's Silliman University, which fell from the 35-400 bracket in the 2018 rankings. Meanwhile, the university expressed its gratitude for being considered as one of the Top 500 universities in Asia. "I am happy, proud, humbled, and challenged to do more for MSU-IIT," Dr. Sukarno Tanggol, chancellor of MSU-IIT, told GMA News Online. "We are thankful to QS for considering us for the first time for evaluation as an autonomous campus, treated separately from the MSU System," Tanggol added. Recently, MSU-IIT graduate Dahr Tur Madayan Silao topped the country's Metallurgical Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

He is popularly called "Anu" but when Khana Anuar Sumndad Marabur Jr. was elected city councilor of the Islamic city of Marawi, he was dubbed "Katarungan" because for 12 years as Marawi Sangguniang Panlungsod committee chairman on peace and order, "I have been working to vindicate the right of our constituents," he said. ILIGAN CITY: A nationally-known Moro women's leader led the commemoration of the Marawi Liberation from the ISIS-inspired Maute and allied groups who siege the Islamic city of Marawi for five months since May 23, 2017. Ms. Samira Gutoc, leader of Ranaw Rescue Team (RRT) spoke during the commemoration as a Maranao women's leader who had sacrificed a lot for the welfare of her people especially the tens of thousands of evacuees displaced by the siege. Gutoc emphasized that her being a woman is not a hindrance to be a leader of an organization in the country's prime university, the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP-Diliman) which has produced the kind of Miriam Defensor, and which has produced presidents, "the UP Diliman which is helping me to become senator of the Republic of the Philippines."
